The title of this most recent Stargate direct to video film is rather ironic. It marks a continuation of the wonderful SG-1 saga, but it also may mark the end of the road as well. Along with The Ark Of Truth, Continuum was intended as an experiment of its own. When the Sci-Fi Channel unceremoniously dumped the beloved series from its schedule after five years (there was a previous five year run on Showtime) the cast and crew of SG-1 were nearly as shocked as the rest of us. I came into Shutter with relatively low expectations. This is an American version of a Thai film, using a Japanese director. Let’s face it, this Asian Invasion horror movement has begun to produce some very bad horror movies here in the US. I can’t begin to describe how tired I am of films like The Grudge that offer so much promise but quickly descend into what has already become a very tired cliché. MGM and Fox today have announced that the first wave of James Bond films will be released on October 21st.
“Recently restored and re-mastered for the highest quality picture and sound quality via the state-of-the-art Lowry process digital frame-by-frame restoration and featuring special features galore, Bond is primed for Blu-ray Disc with a selection of 007 adventures spanning the storied career of cinema’s most recognizable spy.”
This first wave of Bond releases will include Dr. No, Die Another Day, Live and Let Die, For Your Eyes Only, From Russia With Love and Thunderball. Each of these titles will be available individually, as well as in two 3-pack collections – Volume ONe: Die Another Day, Live and Let Die and Dr. No; Volume Two: For Your Eyes Only, From Russia With Love and Thunderball.
